The iO Series first launched in 2020, with the Series 7, 8 and 9. It has since evolved from 3 to 8 brushes. Two extra brushing modes are nice but you'll probably never really use them. The Tongue Cleaner mode is just programmed to turn off after 20 seconds, but you could do the same thing manually with any other mode. And actually, we recommend you try using a tongue scraper if you really want a clean tongue. If you’re not bothered with the whole idea of apps and smart toothbrushes, then the iO Series 3 is amazing value and, arguably, the best brush in Oral-B’s whole range. It boasts the same magnetic drive technology as the other brushes in Oral-B’s flagship iO-Series range, but comes without the advanced sensors and Bluetooth connectivity to monitor your brushing and send the data to your smartphone. In practice, that means a quieter brush with a more comfortable vibration, and one that still leaves your incisors feeling polished and your molars super-clean, as well as doing a fantastic job of clearing plaque from between your teeth.
The iO8’s timer and pacer encourage longer brushing. They too prompt you to move the brush around the mouth, so all tooth surfaces gain attention, not just those you show off as you smile.
Pro Series: Oral-B’s affordable, mainstream brushes. These bring in the 3D action, with micro vibrations, oscillation and rotation for a better clean, along with pressure alerts and a lithium-ion battery (on most models). The red light is accompanied by a slight reduction in the motor speed. You can customize the color displayed on the LED ring when the brush is on but not in use; a fun but completely unnecessary feature. iO specific heads are very similar. The range has been shrunk to just 4 styles of heads rather than 8. 4 different brush head styles are available for the iO8. All can be used on braces, crowns, veneers and implants. And no one mode is going to deliver brushing results that are clinically superior. Your brushing technique and frequency are likely to have a bigger impact than a particular mode.
All system components (e.g., toothbrush handle, charger, power cord, SmartGuide). You do not need to include accessories like the brush heads or refill stand. A timer shows how long you've been brushing for, although it's hard to view this without stopping and taking the brush out of your mouth. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE recognizes your brushing style and guides you to cover all your teeth, so you never miss a spot days is about average, but I’ve gotten a few less for no really obvious reason. The most logical explanation is the colour screen. It would appear to at times drain more than it should.The iO3, 4 and iO5 have a yellow light that illuminates in the center of the cleaning mode button. The handle will vibrate too. The iO6-10 does allow the color to be changed via the in-handle display. But, you have fewer color choices than if you navigate to the app. There is some variance in the colors available The Oral-B toothbrushes in the iO range have been designed to achieve the best brushing, relying on artificial intelligence to do so.
