The arts have always been a powerful tool to spark change. Melonade is a celebration of all the strengths that come with being neurodiverse, which are usually overlooked. It’s a look at how different the education system COULD be. What if people were tested in ways that made sense to them? Without time limits, without focusing on how much you can remember, and without valuing some subjects higher than others?
If 1 in 10 people in the UK have some form of dyslexia, and 80% of students are going undiagnosed in schools, how many kids are being cheated out of a proper education? This juicy game-show puts our education system to the test, and asks why neurodiversity is so often branded as a weakness when it could be our biggest strength! We want people to come away having had a good night out; won some prizes, made some melonade and had a good laugh at the expense of the Tories. We’re also hoping that we can shed some light on what needs changing to make education inclusive for all brains. Though the change can only start once awareness has been raised. And one great way to do this, is through theatre – the very thing the Tories see as a waste of time ‘soft subject’.Serve –Measure out 5 cups of watermelon puree into a large pitcher, then add water, sugar, and lemon. The effects of the Melonade tells me that there is a nice balance of sativa and indica in this hybrid which suits me perfectly. The body high hits hard but soon relaxes, and your brain is elevated but controlled, not letting your mind race away.

We are seeing much more talk about neurodiversity within theatre now, and many shows at this year’s VAULT Festival seem to be highlighting it in their press material, so do you feel that (Tory Government aside) we’re getting better/ more understanding towards such things? Pureed watermelon –Cut the watermelon in half and scoop out the middle of the watermelon leaving the green rhine attached. Puree it in a blender or a food processor until it is smooth and slightly watery.
Melonade is a 70% VG blend, meaning it works best in sub ohm tanks and kits to produce big clouds with an even bigger flavour. You can taste the Lemonade side of the strain but theres some other flavour there that’s hard to put a finger on. It’s like there’s a sort of creaminess that masks the pungency and bitterness of the Lemonade terps. I have never tried Watermelon Zkittles so maybe it comes from that side and why Im struggling to put a finger on the added flavours to this unique terp profile. Who knows, maybe you do?! Water –This helps dilute the watermelon and lemon flavor. Leaving it a bit liquidy and slushy all in one.Melonade has wonderful, fun branding; here to ‘bring colour to your summer’. It really is the perfect light drink for the season, only containing 12% ABV. The excellent liquid speaks for itself. Melonade has won tonnes of awards including a Double Gold at the 2019 Berlin International Spirits Competition, Gold at the Berlin International Spirits Competition 2018, Silver at the San Francisco Spirits Competition 2018 and Bronze in London International Spirits Challenge 2018-2019. Lemon flavoring –I like to use lemon juice or true lemon flavoring because quite frankly, I don’t love squeezing lemons. But you can totally use fresh lemon juice too! Usually, you can get a couple of good tablespoons of juice out of each lemon. Melonade, which comes to VAULT Festival 14 – 17 March, promises us a gameshow about the current education system in the UK, especially when it comes to people who don’t fit into that one size fits all template. To many people, it is an education system that is clearly not fit for purpose and fails many of our children. And as Everything Theatre is very much in that category who despair at the state of it all, Melonade certainly caught our attention. Should we ask your thoughts on the PM’s (Sunak at the time of writing but who knows by the time the show is on!) latest idea to force all school children to study maths up to 18 years of age? (no swearing please… oh ok, a little swear word if you need to)
Turner is a great personality on-stage but her show just needs a little bit more to get the crowd going. What she does particularly well, though, is sprinkle just enough of her story throughout all the fun parts that the audience are heavily invested by the time they’re hit with the incredibly well-written emotional monologue at the end. Watermelon Zkittles is the result of combining Watermelon Kush with Zkittles Strain. The result is an indica dominant hybrid with a 25% THC content that’s loved for its happy, carefree-inducing highs. As the name might suggest, its flavor is that of watermelon meets candy with strong notes of grape and citrus. Finally, what do you want people to take away from watching Melonade then? Do you feel shows such as this have the power to start the process of change that is so badly needed? Outdoor cultivators can prepare for a mid-October harvest. How much does the melonade strain yield? Don’t forget the sugar! With all that lemon flavoring, you will need to sweeten it up. I have never tried it with sugar substitutes, so I can’t say if it works as well. After smoking it, any doubt about the Melonade strain sativa or indica dominance is quite clear, leaving users feeling the invigorated and uplifting effects that sativa strains are known for. The Melonade strain has a hefty 90% sativa to 10% indica ratio making it a fantastic mid-day smoke that will get you energized without a loss of focus.
