These recipes cannot be correct- adding together the weight of water and flour gives a total weight of more than the final weight of the loaf. Even though I had looked at other places for bread makers, when I saw this one at Lakeland - I had confidence. The only down sides I can see (apart from it taking 3h25mins to do a 1kg loaf) is that it doesn't always 'collect' all the flour from the corner of the machine, so loaves can come out with one corner of flour that crumbles away. Thirdly it is a good idea in general to use alive cake yeast because it activates in a lower temperature and is usually more active than the dry.

These comments aside, it does make great loaves and in the past year, we must have bought 3~4 ready made loaves at the most. I can recommend this bread machine to all - I make bread every 3 or 4 days and every time I have success. Combining sun-dried tomatoes, black olives, roast peppers, oregano and pecorino, this flavour-filled loaf is delicious served with ham, cheese and a rocket salad. Cut into squares and serve as an appetiser or side dish, or use as a sandwich bread and fill with prosciutto and rocket or cheese.I have made bread for many years by hand, however for a straightforward loaf ready in time for breakfast, or for preparing dough for some specialty bead or a pizza, this is great.

It will do all the hard work for you – the automatic ingredients dispenser ensures ingredients are added at just the right moment, and the convection fan provides an even bake. So I tried again and followed the receipe for basic white they supply - the result was even worse than the first attempt. Unfortunately after half a dozen (perfect) loaves the bread pan started coming loose during kneading. These recipes should also work well with older machines however please check quantities carefully, particularly with compact models. The level markings on the measuring beaker are a little bit ambiguous, but this is a small negative point for a generally good product.
